  • TGI carried out a detailed exploration activities including drilling in the northern coast of AP for over two years which has resulted in proving potential heavy mineral deposits in Srikakulam district.

  • TGI has secured a mining lease for about 235 acres corresponding to a coastal length of 11.5 kms between Nagavalli and Vamsadhara rivers in Srikakulam district and has the distinction of being the first mining lease for beach sand deposits in AP.

  • The deposit is named after SRIKURMAM, a well known pilgrim center, being in the central point of the deposits. It is about 14 kms south of Srikakulam town, the district headquarters.

  • Unlike the beach sands deposit in Uvari, Tamilnadu, the Srikurmam deposit is a multi mineral one containing about 18 - 20% of garnet ; 9 -12 % of Ilmenite ; 3 - 6% of Leucoxene (brown ilmenite); 10% of Sillimanite; 0.4 - 0.5% each of Rutile and Zircon. The thickness of the sands varies from 5.0 to 10 mm.

  • Srikurmam deposit is considered to be one of the best deposits for garnet and ilmenite in the east coast of India.

  • TGI secured all statutory clearances from both central and state governments.

  • WGI Heavy Minerals Inc's futuristic policy has yielded positive results and TGI has initiated steps to establish an integrated project in Srikakulam.
